Misty and I had three days’ notice to put together a raffle basket for the October 14 Veterans Connections gathering in Bradenton.
The cookout and fundraiser supported care packages for forward-deployed service members. We brought together contributions for a basket to support that effort.
Thank you to Cortez FISH Preserve, KRONAN Swedish Punsch, Manatee FIRE Photo, Ritch Ventures, and Big Dreams Through Small Steps for helping make it possible.
Each contribution became part of something we could put together and deliver within a short window.
Bringing the Pieces Together
This is a practical example of what partnerships can accomplish.
One person or organization does not have to supply everything. Different contributors can provide different pieces. Someone then needs to coordinate those pieces, keep the purpose clear, and get the finished contribution where it needs to go.
With three days to work, that coordination mattered. The basket needed to move from an idea to something ready for the event.
The same principle applies in business and community work: identify the need, bring together people who can help, agree on what each will contribute, and follow through.
An introduction creates an opportunity. Coordination turns that opportunity into something useful.
A Small Part of a Larger Effort
Our contribution was a raffle basket. The larger purpose was supporting service members deployed away from home.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the basket, and to the organizers and supporters of the Veterans Connections gathering. Misty and I appreciated the opportunity to help bring this piece together.
